You can get free US-based addresses in Port Roberts and Blaine. When the US-Canada foreign exchange is favorable, you can use this address to order things from the US, without having to pay $10-50 extra for shipping & duties. I once ordered something from overseas via DHL (valued $120US) and not only I paid extra $25 for the international shipping, DHL charged me $15 for custom clearance on top of $13 or so for the duties. Not worth the hassle.
The boarder crossing is much quicker at Point Roberts but if you frequently visit Seattle, Blaine would be a better option. I use both addresses. You'll be charged $3-5 usage fee for each parcel pickup.
What I'm personally using and why?
- InOut Parcel @ Point Roberts (24h smart locker. Quicker boarder crossing)
- 5dpackages @ Blaine (Cheaper. On the way to Seattle)

Tips
- When entering into the US from Canada, the officer at the boarder will ask you questions such as "Where are you going? How long are you staying?". Be honest. "I'm visiting my PO Box, and I'll return in an hour" should be a fine answer.
- When returning back to Canada, be prepared to show the receipt to the officer at the border. It's nice to show a printed receipt, rather than trying to find your email receipt, because you may not have a cell-phone signals, or you maybe using (expensive) data roaming at the boarder.
- If you're expecting a lot of packages, you could save by spending $10 sign-up fee at Blaine UPS Store. While I haven't used it, they have $0.99 per package deal.
