Vancouverites are adopting EV technology faster than many other cities in the world, and EV population is growing steadily. (54,000 registered EVs in BC, as of April, 2021). Here are some handy resources if you got one, or are planning to get one.
If you live in a condo, you need to get Strata permission first. Even if you get a permission, depending on the distance between the building's electrical room and your designated parking stall, the cost of installing a private charger could be anywhere between $5k-$10k. The charger itself costs less than $1k, but it's the wiring, coring a hole, labor that costs a lot. See if you can team up with a neighbor or two, so that you could split the cost. Better yet, try to take advantage of any rebate programs.
Sign up for your membership for EV charging. In order to use public (free or paid) charging facilities, you will likely need to sign up for all of these (and download their mobile apps too!)
